You are looking at 1 of 789 2002 Limited Edition 35th Anniversary Convertible SS Camaro's with a automatic! This car is just as clean underneath as it is on the top. This is a very rare car and I hope that the new owner will continue to take excellent car of this car. This car will surely be a investment to whoever buys it. If you have any particular questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. I can tell you that we do not have the original exhaust, but it can still be purchased new from SLP. www.slponline.com I imagine it was changed because it was too loud. I have included a review to further infom you about this car. Byron 770-363-xxxx BOISBRIAND, Quebec -- Acre upon acre of muscle cars -- Chevrolet's legendary Camaro and Pontiac's Firebird -- cover a vast parking lot at the Saint Therese automotive plant by General Motors in Boisbriand, a suburb of Montreal in Canada's French-flavored province of Quebec. These new vehicles, fresh off the assembly line and coated in thick wax to protect vibrant paint jobs, stand on the lot awaiting shipment to stateside dealers. For Camaro, the 2002 issues represent 35 years of production and terminal models at the end of a fabled line. Since the fall of 1966 when the original Camaro coupe and convertible debuted, America's youth and sporty-minded adults have been captivated by that long hoodline and slinky body stance. From the outset, Camaro's muscle impressed, such as the original issue's optional SS350 package with a V8 engine spiked to 295 hp. Other powerful versions followed through two decades. Then in 1993 a fourth edition emerged with more horsepower, the suspension tweaked and tuned, new instruments on the dash and additional cabin space for driver and passengers. This Camaro, foundation for 2002 editions, wore a streamlined shell crafted from dent-resistant polymers. The design also marked the first Camaro that could run through a curvy course as well as pounce on a straightaway. In 1994, a convertible joined the coupe Camaro with a windswept windshield tipping back in bold rake so glass actually cantilevers over the cockpit. Two trims have served the fourth design for Camaro since 1993 with either an economical V6 engine or a powerful V8 for Z28 edition in coupe and convertible styles. In addition, the Z28 adds the optional SS package with boosted power through forced air induction. To commemorate the 2002 milestone of Camaro, a special 35th anniversary package is offered in limited numbers for the souped-up Camaro SS coupe and convertible. Painted in Bright Rallye Red with twin stripes streaking from tip to tail in silver but fading to the checkered pattern of a race flag, these daring designs roll on black aluminum wheels from the SS with black anodized brake calipers plus the Camaro nameplate etched in silver across front grille and rear fascia. Inside, the package applies leather to seats in the shade of ebony offset by pewter-colored leather inserts. The coupe gets two removable T-top roof panels, while the convertible has a black ragtop that drops out of sight. And concealed beneath that extended prow on both machines, a retuned version of Corvette's aluminum 5.7-liter V8 engine with forced air induction pushes the power curve 15 points above the Z28 rating to 325 hp at 5200 rpm, with torque skewed as high as 350 lb-ft at 4000 rpm. Standard transmission amounts to the GM Hydra-matic 4L60E four-speed automatic, which handles all of that engine torque nicely, although an optional six-speed Borg-Warner manual shifter puts a street-legal racer within reach. Fifth and sixth overdrive gears in the manual stick lower engine speed at highway pace to conserve fuel, while the bottom gears with tight-fisted ratios mean heady action at street speeds. What kind of fast times can this Camaro conjure? Those lower gear ratios kick in fast off the line, so the 'Vette-like phantom flies down a chute. Full bore, it reaches 60 mph in five seconds and change, and moves across the 100 mph mark in only 13 seconds. Past 120 mph, fifth gear still shows strength, allowing Chevy's wingless jet to top out at the limit of sixth gear around 160 mph. Such speed you may never need or reach, of course, unless you're on a drag strip or race track. Yet it's always there, latent, with only a growl from raucous pipes telling the tale. The SS performance package, building on Camaro's Z28 version, also adds the forced air induction hood, unique spoiler, high-performance ride and handling package, low restriction dual outlet exhausts and Goodyear F1 tires. It caps the Camaro series, although the bottom line continues to escalate as horsepower rises. prices top out for 2002 around $37,000 for the convertible Camaro SS with special 35th anniversary package equipment and all conceivable options. The Z28, still toting the big V8, carries MSRP figures of $25,875 for the hardtop coupe and $29,300 for a convertible version. Add the SS performance gear for $3,325 and the anniversary package for $2,500 more. But Camaro offers an alternative to these tall figures. Similar racy exterior styling coupled to an economical engine show up in base Camaro issues, which are also cast as coupe and convertible. The 3.8-liter V6 -- producing 200 hp at 5200 rpm and torque of 225 lb-ft at 4000 rpm -- mates to either the optional Hydra-matic four-speed automatic or a stock manual five-speed shifter. In this base trim Camaro still looks like it can outpace the wind, so you can end up with the slick styling of Z28 without a fat price tag. Entry figures dip as low as $17,880 for the coupe and $22,295 for a convertible. Camaro rolls on standard 16-inch wheels in 2002 editions with painted cast aluminum wheels. Standard for Z28 are wider 16-inch Goodyear Eagle RS-A speed-rated tires. Every Camaro this year comes with power disc brakes for all four wheels, power assistance for the rack and pinion steering system, and the suspension -- short/long arm in front with De Carbon monotube shocks and a Salisbury rear axle with lower control arms and solid stabilizer bar -- tuned for a firm ride quality. Dual air bags head the list of safety features that extend to computer-controlled anti-lock brakes and a rigid steel safety cage wrapping around the cockpit. The framework includes front and rear crumple zones designed to give way on impact to absorb energy forces from a collision. A Monsoon stereo premium sound kit with in-dash CD player is also standard on the V6 convertible and Z28 editions. All Camaros this year also offer as an option a 12-disc remote CD changer.
